Property Development 2018

Kia ora koutou, and welcome to the Christchurch East School: Property Development page.   The Board of Trustees created this page in April 2018 to provide access to any relevant information relating to our property development, being undertaken as part of the Christchurch Schools’ Education Renewal Programme.   This Ministry of Education-funded initiative will see considerable improvements made to our school buildings, which will more closely align with our aspirational Vision for Teaching and Learning.
This year alone, our Board and Staff have engaged with the school community through a variety of approaches:
  • School community information meeting with our architect and Ministry of Education representatives (on 28 February 2018 at 6 pm). Property meeting minutes 28.2.18. PDF.
  • Whānau School Property tour (on 20 March 2018 at 9 am)
  • Curriculum in Action meeting - termly (Term 1: 20 March 2018, throughout the day and evening). These will continue on a termly basis, with sessions at 9 am and 6 pm, in the future and beyond the rebuild.
We would like to thank members of the school community for their involvement in these sessions, and reassure everyone that these meetings do not conclude the community involvement in the process.   The community should expect more opportunities for engagement as the process develops. The new spaces are called by a number of different acronyms.   MLE stands for ‘Modern Learning Environment’, FLE stands for ‘Flexible Learning Environment’, FLS stands for ‘Flexible Learning Spaces’ and ILE stands for ‘Innovative Learning Environment.’   Environment refers to everything that happens in this space, including physical, social and academic aspects, while the term space refers to the physical space that is part of the learning environment.
